There was no doubt in the mind of both Chris Cullingford (Head of Art) and Mark Malcolm (Head of Graphics) that animation was the area they wanted to explore in this project. From the moment that they were first introduced to Somethin Else they knew it was the area they wanted to explore.

Two meetings with Adam McGrath, interactive producer at Somethin’ Else served to set the two departments on their way. From an unknown, unfathomable media format, it was now comprehensible, achievable and exciting. With technical tips and how-tos being shared by Adam and a bit of practice they were on their very different ways to producing animated gifs.

The Year 8 graphics class chose to work solely on computer. The class drew their animations using a software tool called Paint and then animated them in Photoshop.

You can transfer these animations to your mobile phone using Bluetooth.
