This project looking at child labour was the brainchild of Phil Brown in the Maths department. Together with Alexis Watts from Stoke Newington and Richard Graham from Highwire, the City Learning Centre, a Year 8 Maths class worked to produce news bullet-ins.

After playing a trading game to understand the nature of trade and basic economics students scripted the anchorman/woman studio links to a feature story which they filmed on location at Highwire. The ‘Jon Snow’ stats inserts were filmed with students in front of a ‘bluescreen’ at the school and the relevant data tables inserted afterwards. Editing took place at Highwire.

“I’ve really enjoyed this project and it’s made me talk to people I wouldn’t normally talk to.” Year 8 student.
