In English, students worked with cartoonist,
Steve Marchant, to create cartoons and comic strips around
the idea of Rights and Responisbilities. Students did
some preliminary research around the right to education
based on the UN Charter on the Rights of the Child. They
also asked some questions...
- Does a child have the right to work?
- Should it be their responsibility to
focus on schooling?
- What about children in manay developing
countries who get little or no education?
During Steve's visits, students learnt
some of the skills needed to produce simple, cartoon
characters. They also learnt how to add appropriate
wording to produce their own cartoon strips.
You
have rights - but you have responsibilities too. Some
Year 7s use cartoon images to give you some examples.
